fresh images is a wedding and portrait studio based in Guelph, Ontario, and is owned and operated by me, Margie McLean. fresh images got its start back in 2008, after my sister asked me to photograph her wedding and being involved in my own sister’s wedding in a creative photographic capacity made me realize that photography is my one and true passion. It was then that fresh images was born.

For me, photography is not just about taking pictures and documenting the past: it’s about capturing feelings, and preserving the spirit of life’s precious moments. Photographs help us to keep fresh the memories we will always cherish, and every time I am fortunate enough to be a part of those special occasions, I am reminded of how much I love creating images that will help you to remember vividly the most important milestones in your life.  I truly hope that this passion comes through in my photographs.

my approach to photographing your wedding:

At fresh images, the approach is simple: it’s all about having fun! More than anything, I want you to enjoy yourself while I take care of capturing the memories. Part of my philosophy is making the time we spend together as exciting and stress-free as possible, which is why every wedding collection includes an engagement session.  At the engagement session, we’ll chat and spend time together, we’ll take some photos, and we’ll have fun! Getting to know me and how I work before your big day will help you to be more comfortable, so that my presence at your wedding will make for a relaxed and fun photographic experience. By getting to know you, I’ll get a good idea of what you’re looking for, so that I can personalize my approach for you, and cater to your unique preferences.

A wedding collection from fresh images means you will get an entire day of photographic attention, and an entire day’s worth of images from the perspectives of one or two photographers.  My preference is to work in pairs as a team, because I believe that two vantage points are better than one, so that you get images and details from two distinct outlooks. Each wedding usually involves ten to twelve hours of shooting, because in order to tell your story properly, I want to capture as many details as possible. This can’t be done in just a few hours, so I only offer full-day coverage for weddings.

my approach to your portrait session:

An environmental portrait session is a fun and relaxing way to commemorate the important milestones in your family’s unique story. The photographs we capture during your shoot will become a family heirloom, and I take this responsibility very seriously. For fresh images, documenting your family history through a portrait session is about capturing authentic moments and details, and turning them into high-quality images that you will be proud to share with friends, family, and loved ones for years to come.

During your session, I’ll work hard to find the right balance between posed shots and candid moments, so that we can be sure to capture all the important elements of this chapter in your life’s story.  I come equipped with an open mind and an eye for detail, because I know it’s the little things that are always the most memorable and spectacular. We will spend plenty of time taking photographs to ensure that no detail is left out, so that you will have a complete story in the images to cherish and remember forever. And because I understand that it’s not just about the images themselves, I’m proud to offer high-quality products to showcase your beautiful family photographs.

what to expect when booking fresh images for a portrait session:

Expect to take breaks.

Expect to have fun.

Expect Margie to let you be yourself, interact with one another, have fun.  Those are the moments I want to capture.

preparing for your portrait session:

At fresh images, I specialize in creating portraits you’ll love for years to come, there are a few things to consider after you’ve booked fresh images for your portrait session.

  • Location:  find a location you love, the photos aren’t just of you, they’re of you where you are at this moment.  The location you choose should mean something to you.
  • What to Wear:  Wear what you love but try to keep it timeless.  Your photos will last a lot longer than your outfit.  If your session will have more than one person featured, remember, you shouldn’t ‘match‘, you should ‘go’.  (thanks to Stacey and Clinton for this little nugget of advice!)  Most importantly, make sure you’re comfortable!
  • Be yourself!  At fresh images, we always take time making photographs we know you’ll love.  We’ll have lots of opportunities to walk around change backgrounds, chit chat, (even take a break if you want).  There’s no need to rush anyone because your session should be fun!
  • What to do in case of bad weather:  In case it’s raining, we can reschedule the photoshoot or work inside at your place.  I’m comfortable working inside and out.  A bit of light rain isn’t too bad, and an overcast sky is surprisingly beautiful for portraits, but if it’s going to ruin your hair, we can reschedule or move things inside.

There’s plenty of information in the f.a.q. section, but if you have any questions, feel free to send me an e-mail or give me a call at 519.760.1653.
